How to Change Passport Number on Qatar ID? (2025 Guide)

Changing the passport number on Qatar ID is necessary because it ensures your identification details remain up-to-date with the latest information. The Qatari government issues QIDs to their expatriate residents living in Qatar to avail of various services. This QID contains information related to the QID holder, such as an 11-digit QID number, name, nationality, occupation, date of birth, expiration date, and passport number.

The QID needs to be up-to-date if any of the above information is changed or renewed to save yourself from any hurdle to availing of government services. This article will explain the three simple ways to change the passport number on Qatar ID.

Two conditions must be met to change the passport number on Qatar ID.

Only three documents are required to change passport details in QID:

The fee for updated passport details in QID is QR 100 if you receive it by yourself from the MOI service centre, in the case of selecting the “QPost” option, an extra QR 20 will need to be paid, and the total fee will be QR 120.

One of the ways to change passport details in Qatar ID is the MOI Portal. Follow these steps to update your passport details:

Step 1: Visit the official website Ministry of Interior (MOI) Qatar and access the E-service Portal.

Step 2: Now login with a Smart ID Card.

Step 3: Choose Residency Services.

Step 4: Now select Change Residency to New Passport.

Step 5: Enter your QID.

Step 6: Enter new passport details, including passport number, passport type, issue date, expiry date, and issue place.

Step 7: Now select the reason for renewing the passport (Damaged, Lost or Expired). Click on Next

Step 8: On the next page, two options will appear to collect updated QID, whether you will collect it by yourself from the ”Immigration Department” or you want to deliver it to your place by choosing the “QPost” option. In this case, you will have to pay an additional QR 20 for home delivery charges.

Step 9: Enter the details where you want it to be delivered including area, street, Building No and unit number. 

Step 10: Verify the statement by clicking on the checkbox.

Step 11: Upload clear and readable pictures of your passport. You can upload only a 120 kb file.

Step 12: Pay the fee using a Debit or Credit Card by clicking on the “Pay” button.

Step 13: Select the payment method Debit Card, Credit Card or Account to Account.

Step 14: Save or Print the receipt and you will receive your updated QID within a few days at your home.

Another way to update your passport number is through the Metrash2 App. Follow these easy steps to update passport details:

Step 1: Log in with a Metrash2 account.

Step 2: Click on Residency.

Step 3: Tap “Change Passport Details”.

Step 4: Enter the Passport holder  “QID” and Click “Next.”

Step 5: Enter “Passport details,” including Passport Number, Issue Date, Expiry Date, and Nationality, Place the Issue. The fee for changing the passport number in Qatar ID will appear. Now Click on Next.

Step 6: Upload the photos of your new passport.

Step 7: Select a delivery option, you may collect it by yourself from the immigration centre or choose “QPost.” In the case of selecting QPost, you need to pay an extra QR 20 for delivery charges.

Step 8: Pay the fee, and your passport details will be updated successfully in your Qatar ID.

The third way to change the passport number in Qatar ID is by visiting the MOI service centre physically. If you are facing any problem in applying online, then the option is always to apply by yourself. However, you just need to follow the steps given below:

Step 1:  Find the nearest MoI service centre and visit it.

Step 2: Once you reach there, get a token from reception and wait for your turn.

Step 3: On your turn go to the designated counter and give your old passport, new passport and QID to the staff.

Step 4: Make a payment of QR 100 through your debit or credit card.

Step 5: After a few minutes, they will hand over your new QID with updated passport details and will keep the old QID.
